What happens in each case
Each case below follows from the rules in Why nothing you buy is lost: the plan’s quota lasts until the end of the paid period plus 10 days, each pack lasts 12 months, and the archive stays open for 60 days after the end of the plan and of the last pack.
The plan renews
Section titled “The plan renews”Stripe charges the next period and the Expires date moves to the end of the new period. The plan’s quota is whole again: the signatures and AI reviews spent in the previous period start again from zero.
- What was left of the previous period does not roll over. The quota belongs to the period that ended. If you want to keep signatures for later, that is what packs are for.
- Packs are not touched. A half-spent pack stays half-spent, with the same date.
- Neither are capacities. The users you have, the storage you occupy and the templates you created keep counting.
A payment fails
Section titled “A payment fails”Stripe retries for a few days. Meanwhile the end date does not move and nothing is blocked: the quota of the period that ended stays usable during the 10 days, and packs keep being spent.
If the payment goes through, the plan renews as above. If Stripe gives up, the subscription ends on the date of the last paid period — not on the day Stripe gave up — and the next case applies.
You do not renew, or the subscription ends
Section titled “You do not renew, or the subscription ends”The organisation does not close. What changes, in order:
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| At the end of the paid period | the plan shows as Expired on the home screen; the quota still counts |
| 10 days later | the plan’s quota stops counting — “Plan quota lapsed on {date} — renew the plan or buy a pack” |
| Until each pack reaches 12 months | you keep sending with whatever packs you have, with no plan |
| 60 days after the end of the plan and of the last pack | you can no longer download the organisation’s documents — see The archive after the end |
Throughout, whoever already received a document from you signs all the same. A document that went out was paid for when it left, and the end of your plan does not close the link on anyone.
With the subscription expired you cannot use, edit, move or delete templates — “Action failed. The subscription from which this template originated has expired.” — nor invite people — “It is not possible to add users to an expired subscription”.
UNVERIFIED: the application has no button to stop a plan renewing. Where the customer does it is still to be confirmed.
Changing plan
Section titled “Changing plan”You change plan in the Store, under Plans. The new plan is a new period, paid in full, and starts with its whole quota. The old plan ends in Stripe and is not refunded in cash — but what you paid for it is not lost:
- What was left of the old quota moves to the new plan, as “Left from the previous plan”, and lasts until the end of the period you had already paid for, plus the 10 days. It is spent first, because it lapses first.
- On a bigger plan, it adds up. If you had 2 signatures left from the old plan and the new one gives 60, you have 62 until the old period ends.
- On a smaller plan, too. The quota you had already paid for stays until the end of the old period; after that, only the new plan’s counts.
- Packs come with you, with their dates.
Nothing carries over in three cases: you are coming from the free plan, whose quota was not paid for; from a trial; or the old period had already ended plus its 10 days.
Coming back after leaving
Section titled “Coming back after leaving”Subscribing again after the plan has lapsed is a new period: it starts with the whole quota of the plan you choose, with no leftover, because there is no paid period left to spend. Packs still within their 12 months are still there.
In the store, the card of the plan you had turns into Renew plan and the others into Subscribe. You can go back to the same plan, monthly or annual, or choose another — the restrictions for someone mid-period do not apply. See Choose or renew the plan.
Coming back also reopens the archive: with an active plan, or with a pack bought less than 12 months ago, you can download the documents again.
Cancelling, declining or letting a document expire
Section titled “Cancelling, declining or letting a document expire”Signatures are debited when the document goes out, and the debit belongs to the send. From the moment anyone outside has been contacted or has acted — the invitation sent, the link opened, a code sent, a signature, a refusal — the debit stays. Cancelling, deleting a document in progress, declining or letting it expire gives nothing back.
The debit is only undone for a document where nobody was ever contacted — a send that failed during preparation, for example. Then the signatures go back to the balance, exactly to where they came from, the plan’s quota or the pack. It is not a refund: it is the debit that is undone.
One exception, which follows from the period rule: if the plan has renewed in the meantime, the part that came from the previous period’s quota does not come back — that period is over. The part that came from a pack always comes back, while the pack is valid.
Individual copies are only charged when each copy is signed, so there is never anything to give back.
Buying a pack
Section titled “Buying a pack”A pack is paid with credits and is available at once. It lasts 12 months from that day, with or without a plan, and shows under Resource Usage as “Purchased pack” with its date.
A double click or a connection that drops half-way never buys twice: the same purchase attempt is recognised and returned as already done.
The archive after the end
Section titled “The archive after the end”The organisation’s documents can be downloaded until 60 days after the later of two dates: the end of the plan and the end of the last pack. After that, Download answers:
Download no longer available. The subscription and the last purchased pack ended over 2 months ago.
And View report is disabled on the document detail. The window is your organisation’s; whoever signed can always download their copy.
A new plan, or a new pack, reopens the archive. A free organisation has no end date, and its archive never closes.
Plans with no billed period
Section titled “Plans with no billed period”A plan that AssinaJá assigns to the organisation, or a 100 % discounted plan, does not go through Stripe. That plan’s quota does not lapse — it shows “From the plan: {n} (does not expire)”. Moving to a paid plan carries the leftover over as in any other plan change.
During a trial, sends are not debited, so there is nothing to give back and no leftover to carry to the plan you choose next.
