Create your account
Before you create the account, it is worth understanding one distinction, because it decides what you pick in the next step: your account is not your organisation.
Account and organisation are different things
Section titled “Account and organisation are different things”- The account is your personal access: your email, your password (or the Microsoft or Google account you sign in with) and two-step verification. There is one account per email, and it is yours alone.
- The organisation is what holds the documents, the templates, the plan and the seats. One person can belong to more than one organisation.
The screen itself puts it this way:
Your account is your personal sign-in. Documents and the plan belong to an organisation — create a new one, or join your company’s.
The practical consequence: if your company already uses AssinaJá and you create a new organisation, you end up in a separate organisation, without the company’s documents, templates or plan — and nobody at the company sees what you do there. If your company is already a customer, what you want is to join its organisation.
1. Create the account
Section titled “1. Create the account”The Create account screen is described in Sign in. If you did not arrive through an invitation, the screen shows this note:
Does your company already use AssinaJá? Create your account and, in the next step, ask to join your company’s organisation.
In other words: create the account as usual. The organisation is chosen next.
2. Choose: create or join
Section titled “2. Choose: create or join”The first time you sign in with an account that does not belong to any organisation yet, before you see the application, How will you use AssinaJá? appears, with two options:
| Option | Pick it when |
|---|---|
| Create a new organisation | “For yourself or for your company, if it doesn’t use AssinaJá yet. You become the person in charge of the organisation and start on the free plan.” |
| Join my company’s organisation | “Does your company already use AssinaJá? Ask the person who manages the account for access. No new organisation is created.” |
If in doubt, first ask whoever handles these things at your company whether it already uses AssinaJá. Picking the wrong option does not undo itself — see If you created an organisation by mistake.
If you have a pending invitation, this screen does not appear. The invitation wins: you see “You are joining:” with the organisation’s name, and the account joins it. See Accept an invitation.
Create a new organisation
Section titled “Create a new organisation”The screen is called Create a new organisation — “You will be the owner of this organisation. You can invite your colleagues later.” It has two fields, both already filled in:
- Name — yours. You can leave it blank; the platform resolves it from the external account or the email.
- Organisation name — required, at most 50 characters. It comes suggested; type over it if it does not fit.
Choose Complete onboarding. Creating an organisation means:
- you get the Owner role — full control of the organisation, including billing;
- the organisation starts on the free plan. What each plan includes is in Plans, credits and extras.
The free plan is for one person. If you later want to bring in colleagues, you will need to change plan — see Roles and permissions.
When you enter the application with the organisation just created, Confirm your mobile number opens — “We send a code by SMS to confirm the account is yours. We don’t use your number for advertising.” You can do it now, or Later: a reminder stays on the home screen, and the dialog comes back on your first send, because a free organisation only sends documents once the mobile number of whoever created it is confirmed. See Confirm your mobile number.
If you had open join requests, creating your organisation cancels them.
← Back to the options takes you back to the two cards without creating anything.
Join your company’s organisation
Section titled “Join your company’s organisation”You ask the person who manages the company’s account for access, and wait for their decision. No organisation is created. The step-by-step is in Ask to join your company’s organisation.
If you created an organisation by mistake
Section titled “If you created an organisation by mistake”It depends on whether the organisation you created is free and yours alone.
- It is free, you are the Owner, it has no colleagues (nor invited people) and you belong to no other organisation. You can ask to join your company’s under Settings → Organization → Ownership, section Join another organisation. When the request is approved, your free organisation is permanently deleted, with everything in it — see If you already have a free organisation.
- In any other case — paid plan, or with colleagues — you cannot ask. Ask the person who manages your company’s account to invite you — see Accept an invitation.
On the invitation path, when you accept it, the free organisation you own is discontinued.
UNVERIFIED: on the invitation path, what happens to the documents of the
discontinued free organisation, and what warning the application shows
beforehand — check OrganizationService.DiscontinueSubscriptionAsync and the
invitation-acceptance screen. See docs-src/_open-questions.md §35.
